3 things owner operators must have to remain compliant

  • Enroll in a Drug Consortium: When operating a Safety Sensitive motor vehicle, the FMCSA requires all drivers to be enrolled ina. consortium and hire a C/TPA. The C/TPA will be responsible for ensuring that you take your drug tests in a timely fashion and that any kind of failed or refused test will be reported to the clearinghouse via your C/TPA

  • Drug and Alcohol Test: All Owner Operators that operate a Safety Sensitive motor vehicle has a duty to comply with all DOT regulations. In order to do this they are request to take frequent drug and alcohol test that can be administered for different reasons. . Some reasons a owner operator will need to be test are: pre employment drug test, random tests, reasonable suspicion test, post accident test, return to duty test, or follow up test when necessary..

  • Driver Qualification Files: Yes you read this right. The FMCSA does require you to have a driver file even though you have hired yourself to work for your own company. This information is required to be maintained for 3 years. Before operating a Safety Sensitive motor vehicle the owner operator is required to hold a valid commercial license, have an up to date medical card by an individual who is on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners list, pull a copy of his/her MVR report yearly and for any endorsements on your license there are additional things needed.

Now we understand these items can be a lot to keep up with. As an Owner Operator you are already focused on the road and possibly booking your own loads. Why add the extra burden of keeping up with these items when you have us. Allow us to handle ensure you are always compliant.
